SOHO GEM was established in 1998 and opened its doors in SoHo, the trendiest shopping Mecca in Manhattan! With a unique selection of delicate, feminine designs and colorful dramatic creations, business blossomed and within one year, a second store opened on famed Madison Avenue (this street is well known for its luxury shopping centers, catering to the world’s most discerning clientele for 10 years until 2009!).

After that, our globe-trotting customers asked us to make an online boutique and so we did. We now easily serve customers from all over the world through  sohogem.com

SOHO GEM is proudly owned by sisters Maria Benavides and Irina Ferry. Descending from a strong heritage of fine art, antiques, and jewelry they learned the family business; collecting, buying and selling one of a kind pieces.

With contrasting backgrounds, Irina, an actress and designer, and Maria, a marketing executive, they joined forces to carry on the family tradition. Complementing each other, the synergy of their talents, passion and business finesse has made SOHO GEM an established landmark in New York's fine jewelry arena.

SOHO GEM has carved out a niche in the bridal market by offering spectacular custom made engagement rings and delicate wedding bands to the most sophisticated and savvy brides. With extensive diamond expertise, the in-house gemologist guides customers through the process of diamond selection and custom design during private appointments. Customers can choose from a selection of custom settings designed by Irina Ferry or choose designs by leading designers such as Tacori, John Apel and many others.

SOHO GEM launched a new venture in 2013 with the creation of the Gemstone Boutique. Natural fine gemstones from Madagascar have made their way to the streets of SoHo. Working together with a local Malagasy company, SOHO GEM is directly engaged in the selection of the rough material, the cutting and polishing of the stones, and finally the setting of the most unique gems with their own signature designs. These remarkable stones are being sourced directly from the mines, purchased at fair market prices, thus benefiting the local economy of this mineral rich yet remarkably poor country.
